SCAC Play to Get Underway

Pirates conclude a short week of training and will be heading out today to Conway, Arkansas for the first leg of opening weekend of SCAC play.

After splitting matches in St. Louis, the Pirates went back to the training grounds on Monday to improve upon their attacking and solidify their shape in the defensive third.

Last night the Pirates played a fun and high spirit 2 vs. 2 Bombaso competition (pictured above) and finished with 11 vs. 11 play.

Series Notes:

The Pirates will take on the Warriors of Hendrix on Friday, September 19 at 6:00 PM. Last season the Pirates handed the Warriors a 6-0 loss at Southwestern, which also was Coach Gregory's 100th collegiate victory (all victories at SU). The current Pirates of David Lozano, Preston Hollis, Alex Keller and Josh Spencer all chipped in to score goals, while Hollis also added an assist on the day.

The past two seasons the Lynx have played spoiler in the Pirates plans to take the SCAC. Two scoreless draws on Southwestern's field have been hard to handle due to the Pirates dominating in all aspects of the game. Last season, the Pirates outshot the Lynx 12-8 and had the advantage in corners 5-4. Two seasons ago the Pirates outshot them 26-5 and took the corners 9-2. The Pirates will face off with the Lynx in Memphis at 12:00 PM on Sunday, September 21.
